The Right Diet For Fatty Liver

Failure to detect fatty liver early can have serious consequences. Proper nutrition is essential for a healthy liver!

Proper nutrition for fatty liver

Fatty liver or “liver steatosis” is the most common chronic liver disease in Germany. The causes of the increased storage of fat in the liver are usually an unhealthy lifestyle or certain medications. Proper nutrition  is particularly important if you have fatty liver.

Most of the time, too much alcohol or a very high-fat diet is responsible for this health problem. Fatty liver disease is easy to treat with proper nutrition if detected early.

However, if the problem goes undetected for a long time, it can lead to inflammation, scarring, and other consequences. Chronic fibrosis (hardening of the liver) can also be the result.

Today we are talking about the right diet for a fatty liver .

Common symptoms of fatty liver

Symptoms and nutrition of fatty liver

Not all people who have fatty liver experience symptoms. However, the following signs are often present:

  • Tiredness or exhaustion
  • Loss of appetite
  • Abdominal pain
  • Extreme satiety (feeling of fullness)
  • nausea
  • Difficulty concentrating and poor memory

If you have these symptoms, you should see a doctor for an appropriate evaluation. If the condition is treated in a timely manner, cirrhosis and other consequences can be avoided.

However, if you have obesity, high blood pressure, or high levels of triglycerides in the blood, there is also a biological predisposition to developing fatty liver.

What does the right diet look like for fatty liver?

A change in diet is fundamental in the treatment of fatty liver. Seek advice from your doctor, and a nutritionist can help.

Basically, your diet should be rich in fiber and healthy proteins.
