Coloring Hair With Natural Extracts

In this article we will introduce you to the best natural hair coloring agents. These are free from harmful substances and not only care for and protect the hair, but also the environment.

Color hair with natural extracts

Hair dyes make our hair shine, give it more flair, cover gray hair, etc. However, the products used are often aggressive and can damage the hair structure. If you want to dye your hair, you should therefore use natural extracts.

There are also natural extracts for coloring hair? In this case, we are not talking about  dyes from the herb shop, but about homemade plant extracts. These nourish your hair and strengthen the structure. In this article we will show you which extracts you can use when you want to dye your hair and how to prepare them.

These products are completely natural, but the results cannot be compared to chemical products. They don’t last as long as the artificial colors and cannot cause radical color changes. Hair coloring from plant extracts gives the hair a beautiful and natural shine. In addition, they can be used regularly without damaging the hair. You can also use these dyes during pregnancy without hesitation.

Dye hair reddish

This hair dye is probably the best known of the natural products: henna. Henna stains right down to the roots, ensures shine and health and lasts up to three months.

For hair coloring, simply mix henna powder with lemon juice and a hair treatment so that the hair does not dry out too much.

Don’t forget to use plastic gloves so that your hands don’t get stained when you apply the henna paste.

Dye hair blonde

Chamomile is known to lighten our hair. That is why it is also contained in many shampoos. You can make a chamomile infusion and add some marigold and saffron. Then leave the infusion to take effect for half an hour and then rinse off.

Dye hair auburn

Walnut leaves give the hair an auburn hue, add a beautiful shine and strengthen the hair. To do this, boil a few leaves in water and leave the lukewarm infusion to work for 15 minutes. In the past, this hair color was made by boiling the walnut leaves in beer, as this is also good for the hair. Beer contributes to a healthy hair structure and provides shine, the alcohol disappears when cooking.

Another option is to boil the sage and rosemary in enough water for six hours. Sage can hide the first gray hair. Rosemary works very well against hair loss. As soon as the infusion is cold, add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and leave the mixture on the hair for half an hour. Then rinse.

Dye hair black

In this case, prepare a cup of black tea. This can help with colored highlights to regain the natural hair tone. Make a concentrated infusion and let it steep for half an hour. Then leave it on for twenty minutes.

 Some final tips

  • We do not recommend using aluminum containers or other aluminum utensils to make herbal hair color.
  • Cover hair with foil during the dyeing process for best results.
  • Repeat the staining process daily for several days in a row until the desired result is achieved.
  • The only disadvantage that the natural colors have compared to chemical dyes is that the hair is not quite as shiny. However, this problem can be easily solved. Reapply a hair conditioner regularly and use a conditioner made up of equal parts apple cider vinegar and water. The drier the hair, the more vinegar is used. Let the mixture take effect and then rinse with cold or lukewarm water.
  • It is always advisable to use natural shampoos of biological origin, as these take care of the hair more gently and the hair color lasts longer. They are usually a little more expensive and do not foam as much, but the hair stays healthier and cleaner for longer.
