The avocados originally come from Mexico and grow on trees up to 15 meters high. Due to its high fat content of 25%, the pulp is nice and creamy.

The fruits we sell are usually quite hard and therefore not yet ripe and must first ripen at home. The best way to do this is to put them in a bowl together with a few apples. When the fruit is ripe, the skin turns darker and gives way to pressure.

When ripe, the pulp has an almost golden yellow color. Unfortunately, it turns brown quickly, but you can prevent this by drizzling a little lemon juice on it. Therefore, a little lemon juice or vinegar should be in almost every avocado recipe, because the acid in it prevents discoloration.

The fat of the avocado is rich in essential, unsaturated fatty acids, which makes the avocado healthier than you might think, despite its high fat content.

There are different types of avocado, each with a slightly different taste. The varieties available in stores tend to have a sour taste, which is why you should be a little careful with some “sweet” recipes from the tropics.

Due to its high-quality fats and rich content of vitamins and minerals, the avocado is ideally suited to give the skin care and moisture.

In theory, it is enough to mash the pulp with a fork into a fine pulp and then leave it on the face for about 15 minutes.

The face mask becomes even more nutritious through additional moisture for your skin if you mix some honey and / or yoghurt into the porridge. After about 15 minutes of exposure, rinse off with plenty of clear water.

An effective peeling is obtained by crushing the pulp of the avocado and mixing it with sugar or salt crystals to form a thick paste.

Gently rub the paste over the face once a week to remove dead skin cells and at the same time treat the complexion to natural care with the valuable ingredients of the fruit.

After the peeling, rinse off residues with water. Please do not use any additional cleaning products in order to make the care effect more sustainable.

In winter, the skin of the feet is extremely stressed by tight shoes, dry heating air and hot baths. In summer, our feet need an extra dose of care by walking barefoot.

The avocado is therefore an ideal ally in the fight against dry skin on the feet all year round . To do this, finely mash the pulp of the avocado with a mixer or fork and then mix with oil from the kitchen to a spreadable pulp.

Apply to the feet at least as thick as the back of a knife. To protect the mask from drying out and your sofa from stains, it is best to put your feet in small plastic bags and then leave the care product to work for at least an hour.

A good book, a phone call with your best friend or an exciting movie are ideal ways to pass the time. Then wash off with clean water without soap so as not to immediately loosen the valuable fats from the skin.

Hair treatment for more shine with avocados

As with the face mask, it is enough to mash the avocado with a fork or hand blender to a fine pulp and then work it into the ends of the hair. The natural oils from the fruit give the hair the necessary care.

The addition of a little lemon juice gives your hair more shine, as the acid causes the hair scales to re-create and so the light can be better reflected on your hair.

For that extra shot of care, the hair treatment can be enriched with a little extra cooking oil, for example in winter or as a treatment after bathing in sea water. Wrap with a towel, leave on for about 15 minutes and then wash the hair normally.

You see, you can do a lot more with avocados than serve them as a starter or dip! Even if you don’t like avocados, you should try the nourishing effects of the green fruits, because it couldn’t be more natural!
