Garlic oil can be prepared in two different ways and then used as a seasoning oil in the kitchen or as a remedy in naturopathy.

We explain both production variants to you and then have ideas for you on how you can continue to use it.

Knöblauchöl: Blitz version

If you want to have garlic oil available as quickly as possible, this lightning variant is ideal for you.

But you should make sure that you follow the instructions exactly when making this garlic oil , otherwise mold could develop!

You need:

  • 1 liter of oil
  • 1 head of garlic

In principle, it does not matter which oil you use to make garlic oil. If you only use it cold, opt for a cold-pressed oil, for example olive oil.

If you want to heat the garlic oil later, for example when frying, opt for refined oil.

Peel the garlic and place each clove in a blender. Now pour on the oil and puree the garlic in the oil. A hand blender also works.

Then pour the oil into a bottle, which you put in the fridge in a cool place. The oil will become cloudy and flocculate, this is normal.

After a maximum of 4 days, pour the oil, which has been warmed up to room temperature, through a coarser sieve, then through a finer tea strainer and finally filter it very finely with a sieve that you have previously covered with 2 layers of kitchen paper.

A permanent coffee filter or tea filter made of the finest metal is also possible. Transfer to a clean, dry bottle and store the finished garlic oil in a dark place.

Recipe for the patient

The first recipe is for everyone who wants the best results after just 4 days. If you have more time, you also have less work, because there is no need to filter and refill. The list of ingredients is initially the same:

  • 1 liter of oil
  • 1 head of garlic

Peel the garlic and cut each clove into small pieces or slices.

Pour oil over the garlic. Make sure the garlic is surrounded by oil all over and place the container in a dark place. Shake the bottle once a day.

The oil is ready to use after 10 days at the earliest. Once you’ve used so much oil that you can’t make sure the garlic is completely covered in oil, either add more oil or remove the garlic.

You can use the pickled garlic for seasoning, for example with vegetables.

You can of course reverse the ratio of oil and garlic and soak whole cloves of garlic in good, cold-pressed olive oil.

To do this, carefully peel the garlic and carefully layer the cloves in a jam or mason jar.

Then pour olive oil on top so that the toes are completely covered in oil. Shake or tap the glass to release any last bubbles.
