Elevated blood sugar levels: 10 prohibited foods

More and more people are suffering from diabetes, one of the most dangerous non-communicable diseases in existence. There are currently around 7.5 million diabetics in Germany. It is therefore essential to control the blood sugar level, because high blood sugar levels  can have very serious consequences.

The line between high blood sugar levels and prediabetes is very thin. Diabetes is also not long in coming. Proper diet is essential to prevent this from happening  We therefore invite you today to get to know 10 foods that you should avoid as much as possible in order to control the sugar levels in your blood.

Regulate elevated blood sugar levels

Failure to control your blood sugar levels can lead to hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels) or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels). However, ingesting too many carbohydrates usually leads to increased blood sugar levels. This forces the pancreas to release more insulin so the cells can use the sugar.

However, when there is too much insulin,  blood sugar levels drop and can reach levels below 70 mg / dL. In this case it is called hypoglycemia. This situation is dangerous for the organism.

The three pillars of regulating blood sugar levels are: diet, exercise, and circulating insulin. In order to regulate blood sugar levels, healthy lifestyle habits and an appropriate diet are essential:

  • Between 2 and 2.5 liters of water daily
  • At least 40 minutes of moderate exercise daily
  • Regular meal times
  • Do not allow more than 4 to 5 hours to pass between meals
  • Read the food labels
  • A controlled diet with as little saturated fat as possible
